Blog #8 - Part one of Adept the Journey so far
« on: October 12, 2010, 06:13:30 AM »
As many have heard we have decided as Adept to transfer off Dreadmaul and on to a more populated realm. We know that Blackrock is fairly well known for it's instability during patch days however we are hoping for the best result from this transfer, which is that we will be more inspired to play and stay interested in the game, we will have more options outside of raiding hours and most importantly exposure!

I've been asked to talk about a few things, and I'm still trying to get it all out however here is one of the big questions which was asked
"What is it like being in Adept and what is the key to your success?"

In regards to what it is like being in Adept?
It's too cliche to go and say we are amazing and I always have fun with everyone. So here is the truth about me and Adept. I play this game for the friends that I have become with during my journey, this again is a cliche answer however I will go into it a bit more. I'm the kind of person who puts the rest of the guild before me, I like to keep everyone happy and in return I then feel happy. A good example of this would be best in slot items going to other players offspecs before I even get them (I honestly don't care about the loot and sometimes don't even look at what drops, in TOGC 2 Plate Healing Items went to our Ret Pally without me even knowing they dropped lol)

It's very hard to get onto my bad side and honestly there are only a few people in WoW who have ever managed. My ideals and values may be a lot different to others, I value loyalty and respect a lot. What I mean by this is yeah structure towards a guild and yes I'm talking about seniority, people who just joined shouldn't be annoying and telling others what to do.

I don't expect to be ass kissed or anything like that don't get me wrong, however when there a recruit named Jarheaded told me to shut the fuck up. Fuck I hated that guy but chose to suck it up and not kick him due to seeing it as more beneficial for the guild, it ended up being worst thing by not kicking him off gut feeling, as later on he sold his account straight after receiving an invincible.

So yeah there are some downsides in a sense of people can let you down, however the players in Adept are amazing fun and we make the game fun for one another. Whether we are singing on vent during farm content, or just trash talking each other or even just fucking around in BG's/Arena. The atmosphere is just way too good to give up.

Now to talk about how we got to where we are. This is very controversial but I think its good to share views and what has been done in the past.

Everything you choose to do a will have some kind of negative or positive impact on your guild, and you need to weigh up the risk involved. I shall go through a timeline of big event which happened in Adept which lead to progression along with why they were done.

Early Naxxrammas -
Plain promotes Breesy to GM:
Plain unfortunately had to take a long break from wow due to his RL circumstances and decided it would be best for me to handle the guild. Previously Plain lead many high end guilds such as original Adept on Frostmourne, Purge on Frostmourne, Iron Chefs on Frostmourne and Rehabs on Dreadmaul. He always liked to do all the work and I think that is what killed the game for him.

Sartharion 3 Drakes -
Removal of Joels from Adept:
During our first week or whatever of progression we were very far behind compared to the rest of the world, we decided to do Sartharion 3 Drake (still no oceanic kills at this point) and we came into a lot of problems with players being shit. Joels was our main tank so he was the most geared character in Adept and he started lashing out on a lot of people due to both boredom and being frustrated with other peoples mistakes. I decided to remove him due to his effect he was having on the raid, and he took this as me having a power trip.

We were fairly new still so it was hard to recruit and when someone was pushing away potential applicants due to not having touched the encounter it definitely made it hard for me.

Later on 21st of December we managed to pull off a server first Sartharion 3 Drakes with a new tank and this was when Adept really first started popping up on the map.

Naxxrammas Immortal -
Losing Immortal many times to a shit druid named Noodle and having half our raid DC always on 4 Horsemen:
This was the biggest demoralization when Disposed got Immortal meaning they could finish off the rest of their achievements fairly easily. We as Adept never ended up getting Immortal as it was too much of hassle to deal with for us when we had way too many net problems in our raids back then. It's unfortunate though :(

After Disposed got Immortal, We as Adept achieved Realm first Heroic: You Don't Have An Eternity, however not being able to get Immortal meant that we never got Glory of the Raider in 25man content.

During this whole time we copped a lot of shit about Immortal from Disposed, people like Wahuuga linking [Immortal No More] as a joke, and also one of their raiders Shammertime hijacked our instance and wiped on Patchwerk to make sure we didn't get Immortal.

Reason why I'm mentioning his name is because they played a big part into getting Adept to where we are today.

During Ulduar Disposed and Adept went down different Hard Mode Paths, we chose Thorim first they chose Hodir. I remember it so clearly, Disposed managed to get Hodir down first on a Sunday night, the next night we got Thorim down so it was 1-1. Now it was our turn to work on Hodir and theirs to do Thorim, we ended up getting Hodir down on our 2nd raid of the new raid week being a Thursday, and it took Disposed another 10 days to get Thorim down. What a smack in the face this was to them.

As time went on they slowly fell further and further behind till the point where Adept was working on the Freya 3T. The main tank of Disposed Wahuuga was having many many problems with Disposed leadership and where the guild was going and so he decided to approach us about joining Adept. We even had a guild meeting whether to recruit him or not just to see how our players felt but here is where stuff becomes juicy.

I was notoriously known for disbanding other guilds just for gaining a few extra players for our guild to push us further, so I saw Wahuuga as the best opportunity to do this. Regardless of the shit talk in the past. Me and quoo talked a lot and decided we should bring him in not only for our benefit but to push Disposed further and further towards a disband. The week Wahuuga joined you could obviously guess Disposed weren't even able to raid, there members were becoming more and more annoyed with how things were in the guild and this is where Ryux got me talking to Shammertime/Scottzilla and Klinda.

This was the single biggest accomplishment and turning point for Adept. We were so sceptical as to whether this would be a good idea or not and in the end it was another "this could finally kill off Disposed" which pushed us towards trialing them. They all were amazing in raids, and it was amazing fun to have them playing with us putting back the previous guild rivalry. We managed to get Freya down the night that Disposed were moving their core to Avast, the night which VR claimed "Adept are a zerg guild and I can tell you now they won't get anything remotely hard like Freya 3T or Firefighter, and if they do I'll eat my words" to which someone on vent said "they just got Freya 3T" and he replied "oh.. I guess I'll eat my words then"  :D

Adept was now Oceanic 4th and going strong, soon to be #1.

This blog may have been a bit boring but it will pick up massivly when I continuenext Tuesday where I will talk about our Gundrak transfers and a few more surprises involving the juicy drama you want to know about.

bahahahahahaha mosh

if people weren't elitist, bitter and caught up in rivalries, merging cores back then could have been supercool

was still fun though
